a blemish created by used chewing gum spat, dropped or otherwise placed onto pavement that hardens and blackens by pedestrians trampling it underfoot. A glemish is found on ground surfaces such as sidewalks and streets made of concrete, asphalt, brick, tarmacadam (tarmac), or stone. Gum + blemish.

Out-of-town visitors to New York City were struck by the large number of glemishes on the city's {sidewalks}.

Each year the city's {sanitation department} spends thousands of dollars to remove glemishes.
