A mythological superhero-like character originating in folklore, such as Paul Bunyan, the giant lumberjack with a blue ox, Johnny Appleseed, who planted every tree in America, or John Henry, the railroad spiker who raced a steam hammer to his own death.

Pecos Bill was a folklord that was raised by coyotes and conquered the West by lassoing tornadoes and wrestling Leopleuridons into submission.

folklore 

An absolutely amazing Taylor Swift album. cardigan was the lead single and it came out only four and half months before evermore. It was a surprise album and probably wouldn't have come out if it weren't for COVID. So in a way, "thanks COVID," but not really because folklore and evermore are the only good things to come from it.

Have you listened to folklore yet, it's like so good. You should also listen to evermore.

folklorist 

An individual who studies folklore and/or folklife for a living.

Often identifiable by their peculiar clothing, meager incomes, and the ability to talk about how "everyday stuff" is actually pretty cool and meaningful in larger scheme of things. As a profession, you could say that they are the ultimate collectors and bearers of tradition.

Tom: Hey, Dick! That guy with the longish hair, tweed jacket, and neatly groomed facial hair told me that the Paul Bunyan tall tale was actually a fake!

Dick: You just now figured that out? That dude is a folklorist. He knows these things and is awesome because of it. Now go make me a sandwich.
