When someone is attracted to either the male or female in a coupled relationship, simply because they want what they have, or want to create jealousy in the couple.

If a person within the couple is also flirtatious with the third person, and there is a possibility of an affair, it makes them seem even more attractive to the third person.

My guy friend is always wanting me to go out to clubs with him and pretend like we are a couple to create couplenvy. It works, he always ends up with more phone numbers on those nights!

We go out together and create couplenvy, and when the other person feels like they are getting someone who is already wanted and taken, they feel like they have won the prize.

The freakish phenomenon of 2 people intentionally portraying themselves as or otherwise existing as one person. Examples include such local variations as might be seen on your Facebook friends list, i.e. "Jen N Alex" or "Lisa N Dave" although in years past some have made national headlines, like Brangelina and Bennifer. Individually such people are mildly tolerable, however together they are obnoxious.

(pronounced: Couple-ee Scum) Term of grudging endearment for a couple who are engaging in any form of lovey-dovey, cutsie behavior. Used as an only slightly back-handed complient.

Can also be used by a member of a couple to refer to their own behavior.

Girl #1: So Ian put together a whole little picnic for us in Central Park today, right by the pond. It was so nice!

Girl #2: Coupley Scum!

Girl #1: (Hangs head and smiles) I know, I know. We're totally coupley scum.
