In this process, music that contains human voices is processed with digital signal processing. Usually, the speed rate is increased or the pitch is raised by a few semitones. The voices are played so high that they sound like they are being sung by the characters from show "Alvin an the the Chipmunks". Subjecting songs with voices of musicians with a particularly large ego or male singers with a high DivaScore to this process leads to particularly funny results because of the contrast achieved. However, listening to the results of this process several times in one day quickly leads to discomfort and is not recommended. I tried chipmunkification myself once with songs by Frank Ocean, but it didn't work because he sounded more like the pimply guy from Mad Magazine, at least that's how I imagine his voice.
The character "The Protagonist" from Christopher Nolan's film "Tenet" doesn't think "chipmunkification" is a word.
