Afrikaans for "farmer jew", a South African of mixed Dutch and Jewish ancestry. Created in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and South Africa, they can also be found today in Great Britain, Australia, and Israel.
300 boer joden served on the side of the Orange Free State and the South African Republic in the war against the British Empire.
