batathon

1. A form of sport we don't often see or know about, it goes like this: There are two men with a ball on the field, and the one who gets chosen to start throws the ball at the other guy's stomach, trying to make him puke. Then the other man does the same, and this goes on until at least one of them pukes.

2. Canadian vegetable, round and blue. Has been used in the ancient version of the sport batathon, thus the name.

Typically the athletes involved in this activity will have to choose a neighborhood packed with bars. The race starts in the first bar on your way to the end of the street/neighborhood. The finish line is usually defined by the angle between the sidewalk and the road (the distant depends on the contestants and the drinks). You will have to get one drink of your choice in as many different bars as you can.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
