Wiki Wanker

A person who alters the wiki entry of a person, place or thing to say something negative or otherwise malicious about said person, place or thing.

My neighbor just altered my wiki entry on Wikipedia and now it says I'm a 4000 year old troll who likes eating cow pies; he is such a wiki wanker.

wiki-wandering

after looking up the info you need on Wikipedia, you click on random, interesting-looking links, reading new stuff, until you find yourself reading about something totally unrelated to your original subject.

i looked up "mickey mantle" on Wikipedia. when i was done, i clicked on "new york yankee players," then "world series champions," then on "brooklyn dodgers," then on "leo durocher," then on "laraine day" then on " famous mormons," then on "donny osmond," then on "tv stars of the 70's," then on "david soul", then on "starsky and hutch," then on "tv cars," then on "ford torino," then on "torino talledega," then on "richard petty," then on "stock car champions," then on "alan kulwicki," then on "famous persons from wisconsin," then on "jeffery dahmer," then on "serial killers," then on "howard unruh," then on "camden, new jersey," then on "campbell soup," and then i realized i had just wasted the last three hours wiki-wandering!

The process in which a user logs on to Wikipedia to research a specific topic, only to find themselves on a completely unrelated topic several hours later.

Chris: Dude, I went to Wikipedia last night to do some research for my science project.

Mike: Did you find what you were looking for?

Chris: No. I wikiwandered for four and a half hours and found myself reading about the English parliament.

The act of reading through a series of often only tangentially related entries on Wikipedia by following interesting hyperlinks. Often takes up a surprising amount of time.

"What did you do today?"
"Oh I wasted the entire afternoon on one massive Wikiwanderung starting at the 'Tacoma Narrows Bridge' and ending up at 'Fatal Hilarity'."

The act or process of looking something up in a wiki site, most usually Wikipedia, and then following a trail from there based on entry links which catch your attention.

"I looked up Suzuki motorcycles in Wikipedia and read that it was started in the Shizuoka Prefecture, who's entry told me that a massive earthquake occurs every 100 to 150 years and that the last one was 146 years ago. This prompted my interest in big earthquakes and the wikiwander went from there."
