result of a supervisor/manager/other person in charge asking for volunteers, and then at the last minute deciding that since no one volenteered to work, that he would volenteer people to work.

monday:
boss: i need some volunteers to work this weekend

thursday: since no one volunteered to work, Joe your coming in.

Joe: Wow, i was just volentold to work :(
