A small piece of food stuck in the back of your throat near the tonsils, sometimes for days, that you eventually cough up. It is usually semi-rotten and smells like concentrated bad breath.
Last week I coughed up the nastiest little gray throat pearl. When I smashed it between my thumb and forefinger, it released a smell that still haunts me today.
