The Filby effect is where a person/persons revise for exams intesnsely with a large magnitude of time prior to the examination. This early start and volume of revision causes poor exam reaults due to excess preparation.

Symptoms include: Loss of social life before exams and an excesive preference for work during the academic year.
Person 1: I just spent the last 3 weeks revising for this test today.

Person 2: Really?! Unlucky, you'll be subject to The Filby Effect my friend - I started last night.
