Tardition

A tradition that is utterly stupid or defies logic. No one's sure why it's still in effect.
"So wait, why aren't you going to be at the party on Saturday?"
"First Saturday of every month my family gets drunk, plays cards and yells at each other. It's a little tardition we have"
"...lame."

national-traditionalism

Nacional-Traditionalism, abbreviated as NazTrad, is economically protectionist, anti-capitalist, anti-globalization, anti-liberal, culturally organic, and traditional ideology.
It believes in a return to a traditional society, in sustainable, decentralized, small organic local communities, opposed to globalization and its effects: progressivism, liberalism, gay rights, technology myth, monoculturalism, consumerism, Marxism, feminism, mass media, representative mass democracy, currency de-dollarization, fascism, totalitarianism, internationalist ideals. It's anti-system, anti-war financing, global financial system, tax hike, beyond the right-left spectrum, anti-French Revolution, skeptical of technological progress, aristocratic, staunch anti-Republican.
"Do not confuse National-Traditionalism with modern nationalism : chauvinist, romantic and idealistic."

He is skeptical of science, technology, organized religions and economics.
"The main difference between a traditional and a conservative is that the former believes in transcendent values, while the latter preserves the values of the bourgeois revolution and its consequences. Therefore, one should not confuse Traditional Aristocracy with Conservative Oligarchy."

To describe coming into something good, coming into good luck and or good times.

Like walking over small green hills in the countryside then coming across a purple patch of flowers, thus it being unique and out of the ordinary.
I hit a real purple patch.

The other day this good thing happened unexpectedly then I was lucky with this, it was unique, I hit a real purple patch.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
