1. A hard piece of snot, just inside the nostril but visible to anyone within conversation range. Usually hangs from and surrounds a nose hair the way wax surrounds a candle wick.

2. A semi-hard piece of snot that flies out of you nostril into a handkerchief or the palm of your hand when you sneeze.

When he sneezed, a snedley shot out his nose and landed in my french fries.

A bacterial infection of the sphincter, caused by excessive pounding. Smedleyitis can spread throughout the colon and in rare cases, manifest itself in the brain, causing retardation.

Symptoms: The affected individual may be extremely slow and will constantly be hungry.

Slang of US Marine Corps for someone who handles simple jobs for a superior. One working in the role of a butler.

Smedley is a play on words that comes from Smedley Butler, a Marine hero who was a Major General and won two Congressional Medals of Honor.

He was the General’s Smedley with duties that included laying out uniforms and being the General’s driver.

1) The small black floating bits of carbon or other burnt substance that occur when you first light a candle or an oil lamp.

2) The same black "floaties" when you light and prepare an oxy-acetylene torch and the mixture isn't quite right.

1) Look at the snidleys floating to the ceiling of the living room.

2) This flame will never cut that steel, look at the snidleys coming off it.
