observeation

What yer pesky health-and/or-portions-obsessed parents assiduously engage in whenever you go to da church-supper or backyard-barbecue table and hold yer plate out for da cooperatively-smiling ladle-wielders to heap wif tasty goodies.
I can see how caring parents would want to monitor what types/amounts of comestibles go into their little ones' mouths, but excessive observeation of said activities is just that --- excessive. Letting them have a larger-than-usual helping or a not-strictly-health-foods treat once in a while isn't really gonna do them all that much harm, especially considering how much said pint-sized edibles-vacuums will enjoy said pleasure-delicacies.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
