The official slang name of The NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, recently changed to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering by some tyrants on the NYU board of trustees.
NYU Polytechnic, (nicknamed NYU Poly) was originally an all men's engineering school which later became the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, which then joined NYU to become NYU Polytechnic, then left NYU and kept the name NYU Poly. Then in 2014 NYU finally merged with New York University to become the New York NYU Polytechnic Institute. NYU Poly has grown to become one of the world's best engineering establishments, which continued to grow until the Tandon family gave $100 million to the school to rename it in their likeness. Most students and almost all staff still call the school, NYU Poly, or just Poly.
Person 1: Hey Person 2, what college do you go to now that you graduated?

Person 1: Oh yea, didn't they rename that school?
Person 2: *Sigh* yea, now its NYU Tandon :/

Person 1: Tandon? {Lol that sounds like NYU Tampon
Person2: Rofl You're right it definitely does. I liked NYU Poly a lot better.
