First established in the 1800's as a planned industrial city and was a major focal point for the industrial revolution spawning miles of mills across its Merriamack river. In the 1980's, Lowell lost its spark and became ghetto and crack ridden, with Asian gangs flooding the streets. Also known for its boxers, Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund as seen in the 2010 movie, The Fighter.
