Melodymania

Having a tune stick in one's head and repeat endlessly until it becomes a torture. Similar but lesser maladies include "earworm, stuck-tune syndrome, and repetunitis."

"Melodymania" were coined 30 years ago by a choir member of the Brookside Community Church, Brookside, NJ.

Singing "Happy Birthday" 100 times could cause "melodymania," while singing it only 10 times might cause only earworm, stuck-tune syndrome, orrepetunitis.
