Geonomen

The practice of naming or referencing a person by his or her locale.

It has become common practice in headline writing to refer to people by their location. In former times, this was not necessary because of the local nature of newspaper writing. Now, with news websites and national newspapers, this practice is required to give context to articles which may have been first published locally.
"Florida man caught with lobster in his pants" is an example of a geonomen.
