A field training exercise is effectively a circle jerk of all the Army's green weenies. Field Training Exercises (FTX) are often associated with consuming copius amounts of dipping tobacco (usually Copenhahen or the welfare bear) in order to keep any semblance of sanity right before you contemplate tying your rigger around your neck and hang from the nearest tree limb like a piñata.
Field Training Exercise:

Soldier 1: Dude this shit sucks. I've been pulling security for hours.

Solider 2: Same bro, I want to tie my rigger around my neck and end this shit
Soldier 1: Here bro, have some Cope.
