An indeterminate period of time taken by a middle-manager off-work, which may either be paid or unpaid, taken by someone who may or may not be successful, who also may or may not be in the midst of a mid-life crisis, so that they can decide what they want (or do not want) to be when they grow up, before eventually returning to their desk job after realising the golden age of piracy ended 300 years ago.
