"(The) Opposition Paradox" is a term credited to the philosopher C.M. Nutter for describing when people are unwilling to try new things that others recommend without a logical reason other than to simply provide opposition to the idea of trying something new.
Donna recommended her and Steve go to Chinese food for dinner. Steve opposed the idea even though he never tried Chinese food. Donna pushed and eventually Steve conceded and they had Chinese food for dinner. After trying the food Steve fell in love with Chinese food wonder why he opposed it and was never willing to try before. Therefore being a victim of the Opposition Paradox.
