Generation Doom

The first generation of the 21st century that has collectively accepted the death of the "Grand Dream" (home ownership, career stability, or a viable pension). Instead of revolting or saving, they practice Consumer Nihilism, funneling their stagnant wages into a relentless "Economy of Experience."

Characterized by Doom Spending and a high-functioning addiction to FOMO, a member of Generation Doom will complain about the price of groceries in the morning but fight for a €100 sold-out concert ticket at night. They aren't buying luxury; they are buying a "Certificate of Existence" to distract themselves from a future they can no longer afford.
The surge in luxury concert sales despite record-high inflation isn't an anomaly; it’s the hallmark of Generation Doom, a cohort opting for the immediate ‘inventory of moments’ over a future they’ve been structurally priced out of.
