salty

(Adjective): - Anger, bitterness, or sulkiness in response to a being put in a situation one finds disagreeable and/or unfair. For instance, one could be salty after experiencing a sporting or political defeat, having a joke made at one's expense, or being placed in an unpleasant situation (such as being given extra work by one's boss).

Being "salty" is generally a sign of emotional immaturity, as the situation is rarely as unfair as the salty individual believes it to be. Most of the time they're just whining because things didn't go their way.

Grumbling, sarcasm, snapping, moodiness, and even outright hostility are all examples of "salty" behaviour.

The term is likely derived from the fact that salt has an acrid and bitter flavour.
"Gareth was really salty after his team lost the game yesterday. He's been sulking in his room ever since."

"Don't be like that, Jen. It was just a harmless prank. There's no need to be so salty about it."
