When two or more parties are fighting in one way or another, and an external party comes in to settle the situation - or make it worse. May be repeated for greater effect, or if said parties were too heated up in the argument to listen.

1. The end of a relationship, affair, fling or situations hip.

"Where's Nastya?"
"She broke up with me.."

2. The end of a band.

"Did you hear the Metal Skulls broke up?"
"Damn that sucks.."

3. The end of a political entities.

"The Soviet Union broke up in 1989."

4. The end of any other type of relationship or partnership.

"I haven't heard from the customer in a while. I think they might be breaking up with us."
