U. S. Navy abbreviations and acronyms that are widely used by naval personnel. Small abbreviations are combined to construct larger acronyms. A few examples of small abbreviations: NAV=naval, COM=command, LANT=Atlantic, PAC=Pacific, SUB=submarine, SURF=surface, RON=squadron, PERS=personnel, DES=destroyer.
