the famous hip hop group that started it all. members where wonder mike, master gee and big bang hank. the sugar hill gang came straight out of sugar hill in harlem, new york city. the group was very popular in the mid 70s when they first came out, with their 2 number 1 hits 'rappers delight' and '8th wonder/apache'.

The Sugarhill Gang 

A New Jersey rap group consisting of Michael "Wonder Mike" Wright, Henry "Big Bank Hank" Jackson and Guy "Master Gee" O'Brien.

The group is most famous for releasing "Rapper's Delight" in 1979, which was the first rap single to reach the Bilboard Top 40. The group engraved itself in rap history as a "founding father" of rap. Other rappers who are seen as founding fathers are: Kurtis Blow, DJ Kool Herc, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Eminem and Run-DMC.
