To talk about unrelated topics when part of a group, playing a game or engaged in an activity requiring the groups concentration.

We started playing Dungeons and Dragons later than we planned because we ended up 'hatstanding' for a couple of hours.

Chatstanding

In a large corporate Zoom/Teams meeting, attendees with nothing to add to the conversation make up for it with banal, cheerleading and good vibes in the meeting chat to make sure they are seen.

Not sure why Bob was in that meeting, but boy was he chatstanding with his shallow words of encouragement and inappropriate memes.
