To half black out, there are parts you remember and parts you don’t. Similar to how a barcode switches from black to white.

Guy 1: I can’t believe you got with Karen last night
Guy 2: Holy shit I don’t remember that what
Guy 1: Yeah you were so drunk, you must have barcoded
