To a blacksmith, this describes a type of forge weld where two or more lengths of iron are stacked as in a bundle. They are heated to a nearly white welding heat and hammered together until they become cohesive and one piece. A blacksmith calls the process and the result a faggot weld.

The smith executed the faggot weld with apparent ease.
