rescue date

a person, may be a girl or a guy, who has the sole purpose and function of accompanying the invitee to an event.

I don't want to drive: at night/on the freeway/over the bridge, etc., alone, so I will ask him/her to be my rescue date, so that I am able to attend this party, concert, reunion, etc.

In most cases, it is a mother, of a child/children, who finds time to attend society, political functions, charitable or PTA meetings, in conjunciton with driving her kids to their soccer games.
