Schrödinger lie

A lie, typically a boast or hyperbole, that can be played of as a joke. Depending on if the audience believes the lie, the liar decides whether or not the statement was intended to be taken seriously.

"That wasn't a joke, it was a Schrödinger lie; you really thought we would believe that."
