Contraction for dating via instant messaging, or IMing. Applies to couples who meet online, and either conduct the relationship exclusively virtually, or during the period prior to carrying out a relationship IRL.

"When we were first daiming, my boyfriend used to make sure to correct every typo he made. Now that we're dating IRL, he misspells words and misuses apostrophes right and left."
