flute gulp

The act of quickly chugging the remaining mimosa in your champagne flute the moment you see the brunch server approaching with a carafe, emptying the glass so you qualify for a full top-off. A strategic maneuver for maximizing bottomless mimosa intake.

Not to be confused with a chambong, which is an actual device. A flute gulp requires no equipment — just timing and commitment.

Ironically, the flute gulp finds the "bottom" of a bottomless mimosa while also ensuring the largest possible refill.

Fun fact: a champagne flute holds roughly the same number of fluid ounces as the average mouth can hold without swallowing, making it the ideal vessel for the technique.
Kelle spotted the carafe coming and pulled off a perfect flute gulp. Got a full refill out of it.
