BOOFUS: Primary definition, possible Greek roots: A buffoonish insufferable bore. An ignorant arrogant self-centered clown, unresponsive to deserved criticism. Someone acting independently and in highly exaggerated opposition to normally accepted values and mores, so extreme and silly that it borders on sarcastic humor, but unrecognized as such. Someone who fails to apply common sense when formulating or applying a course of action.
