Use widely in Wisconsin bar dice game called Horse played for drinks or juke box, often against the bartender. To win, you must win two out of three games. If you each have won a game, it is a horse apiece.

Also often used to state equality.

"You can take County F north or County HH east, the distance is a horse apiece."
