nepp 

A small ball of fuzz which can be left in, or added to a smooth roving of wool which will form a bump when spun. Nepps can be the result of poor fibre preparation, or added on purpose to make a tweed style yarn.

This roving is full of nepps.
I must card the nepps out of this fibre.
