Electrothrash™ music is a combination of electronica and thrash music having roots in both punk rock and trash metal. Characteristics include layered, often harmonizing, vocals and features electronic drums, synthesizers and samples, while alternating prominently between a variety of layered synthesizer sounds, and layered electric guitar and electric bass guitar. Electrothrash™ music is often uptempo, sometimes incorporating acoustic instrumentation, piano, and distorted or heavily-processed vocals. Lyrical content commonly focuses on political, social, and humanitarian issues, as well as current events. This style of music originated on the East Coast and West Coast of the United States; see Musharaka.
