A form of music that actually originated from Crust and punk. Some originators of the genre were Napalm Death, Anal Cunt and Bolt Thrower. Grindcore draws some influences from death metal, jazz, hardcore, and just about everything. Grindcore can be characterized by odd time signatures, frequent change of tempo, complicated Jazz influenced guitar riffs and chords, complicated, extremely fast drumming (Often using blastbeats). Modern day grindcore is extremely different than its roots. While old grindcore was simpler, newer grindcore bands are insanely talented and use alot of innovations in their music. Alot of grindcore has an experimental quality as well.

Grindcore is a very innovative and non-cliche genre, and seeks to be set apart from trendy Metalcore and Hardcore bands. Yet somehow since grindcore has no scene of its own, Grindcore bands are mismatched at hardcore or metal shows. (Leaving alot of bewildered stares on the cookie-cutter scene kid's faces.)

Also, there is no grindcore scene, and one cannot "be grindcore."
Napalm Death, Anal Cunt, Bolt Thrower, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Red Chord, Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, Radiation 4, Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus, The Locust, Pig Destroyer, Cattle Decapitation, Between The Buried And Me, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Cephalic Carnage,

ex. "Im a grindcore kid." <-Your a faggot.
ex. "The Dillinger Escape Plan is not hardcore, they are grindcore/experimental."
