Pre 1950 Derbyshire. A gubbertush is a tooth like a fang, usually seen in pairs and would be the 'eye teeth', just the same as Count Dracula is always shown with.

Clagnut 

This would be after an extended period of lack of regular sanitary arrangements such as on patrol in bandit country.
