Used as a greeting or farewell, which exuberantly expresses well-wishes while giving both the greeter and the greetee the distinct though ultimately misleading impression that they are using a word which is tied to a rich and timeless cultural tradition.

"Goondiwindi! May many blessings befall you."

"Goondiwindi, this is Eddy, how may I direct your call?"

"I'm afraid you've dialed the wrong number. Goondiwindi."
