Meijer’s Syndrome

The tendency of Midwestern mothers to add an unnecessary and incorrect possessive “S” to the names of restaurants, stores, and other businesses, as in referring to Meijer as “Meijer’s.”
Mom: Do you want to go to Meijer’s? How about Nordstrom’s?
Allyson: Jesus Christ, Mom! Your Meijer’s Syndrome has gotten really bad lately.
