Someone you are almost friends with, but you only meet on a semi-regular basis at parties and the like. The result is that you know their name but you know very little else about them.

'I didn't know that you two knew each other?', David asks Bill and Trevor.
Bill answers, 'We don't. Not really. We have a strangeship'.
