1. Slur originating from a machine made to calm autistic people down. A hugbox is a community made for autistic people, implying the community is an echo chamber where people just pat themselves on the back and blame everyone else for their problems (some of them are, but it's used in a "how dare you not let me shit on you whenever I want" way by the same people who force someone into a chamber in the first place).
2. A trans community who does the same thing but also pretends everyone passes no matter what. Can also be a verb, to treat someone like you would in a hugbox. Often used by the exact opposite community, where a bunch of trans people who hate themselves tell each other they're ugly and will never pass because they think it makes them strong. The second kind is much more common. Derived from definition 1, though many trans people don't know it.
