A tomgirl is a male individual who expresses themselves in a traditionally feminine way through clothing, activities, or lifestyle. Not all tomboys fall under the transgender umbrella because gender expression and gender identity are different. Tomgirls are the female counterparts to tomboys: girls or women who express themselves in a more masculine manner. Tomgirls are often subject to stereotypes, such as being associated with homosexuality. It's important to note that not all tomgirls are gay; some are straight, bisexual, pansexual, etc.
