In a metaphorical sense, used to describe a person, place, thing, or situation that is overly pretentious, showy, or trying too hard to appear sophisticated, yet lacking in genuine depth or substance.
A situation or behavior that is superficially attractive or sophisticated but is ultimately unfulfilling or of little value.

1. Did you see his latest Instagram post, with that obscure quote and the black-and-white photo? So branzino.

2. That new boutique coffee shop feels a bit branzino to me, all style and no real coffee culture.
