random crowd 

The group who tries to tap into a larger underground culture but can't quite pull it off, and, as a result, uses the word 'random' to approximate their vague sense of an overarching postmodern aesthetic. Usually fans of Garden State, Family Guy, and Ipods.

1: Hey, look at the guy with that ultra-tight Arcade Fire tee-shirt, Jetta, and Shins bumper sticker. I bet he belongs to the random crowd.

2: I love that movie Edward Scissorhands, it's so random!
