A late 50s term for being publicly ashamed of a relationship one otherwise adores. Derived from TV actress Haley Stonefield’s secretive dating life during the period. Can be used with all genders. Not to be confused with the name Haley.

“I thought Brett and Martha were dating, they seem so distant.”
