It's the act of multiple people who form a group/gang. This can be done with friends or those you don't know, but these are people you believe are weirdos and fit you're type of squad.

John, "Is that you're friend?"
Buck, "Him? Oh he's just part of my huplegangers."
John, "I always knew you were a weird one..."
