Pulled a Taylor

Not thinking a decision through, making a stupid mistake, or making a dumb decision.

For example, instead of grabbing the right tool for the job he pulled a Taylor and grabbed a phillips screwdriver instead of a flat head like everyone knew he should. That is how he pulled a Taylor.
