The term comes from the song Chrissy, My Little Chromosexual. It describes a person who gets sexually aroused by vehicles, primarily highly chromed cars. This arousal extends even to parts of the car, whether or not chromed.

Chrissy’s a chromosexual; as long as she has her Mazerati, she doesn’t need a man to get off.
