schleprock

A derogotory term for a person of Irish descent, came into parlance in New York in the early 20th century. A combination of 'shamrock' and the Yiddish term 'schlep', meaning to haul. Used to describe the Irish laborers by the wealthy Yiddish speakers of New York.
